Pre-Halloween treats for children in Elkhart, South Bend

You may see some little ones decked out in the Halloween costumes in Elkhart this weekend.

The city’s parks and recreation department will host its annual Safe Trunk or Treat Event at Island Park from 12 p.m. until 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 20.

This year’s festivities will include a costume contest and candy provided by local businesses. The event is free for children 12 and under.


The South Bend Police are hosting a safe trick or treat event before Halloween with the South Bend Cubs.

Stu and Swoop’s Cops and Goblins trick or treat event will take place from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 29 at Four Winds Field.

Police, Fire, and City officials will be on hand to pass out candy to the kids.

South Bend Cubs mascots Stu and Swoop will be on hand and kids can enter a costume contest to win prizes. Children will also be able to take pictures with the mascots.
