Michigan man allegedly beat infant, causing 21 broken bones

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (AP) — A Grand Rapids man is accused of repeatedly beating his infant daughter, leaving the child with 21 broken bones.

Thirty-nine-year-old Edgar Hall III is charged with first-degree child abuse, and is being held on a $100,000 bond.

WZZM-TV reports that investigators say Hall began harming the girl shortly after her birth in June. The child’s broken bones were discovered in September when her mother took her to a hospital for treatment of a suspicious face injury.

Grand Rapids Police Sgt. Cathy Williams says doctors found 21 fractures “from head to toe,” including breaks in her arms, her right leg and both shoulder blades.

Hall was scheduled for Tuesday court hearing, but it was adjourned because he was transferred from the Kent County Jail to a hospital for an undisclosed reason.
