Santa’s arrival and Mishawaka Christmas tree lighting ceremony set for Saturday

The arrival of Santa and the annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony will take place at the Mishawaka Police Station at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 24.

Santa and Mishawaka Mayor Dave Wood will arrive on a decorated fire truck along with VIP guests from the Habitat for Humanity Carter Work Project who will have the honor of lighting the Christmas Tree. The procession will leave the Union Street Fire Station and make its way to the downtown tree arriving around 6 p.m.

This year’s Christmas tree was donated from the Mishawaka home of Gloria Rickey.

Small Business Saturday opens with a marketplace happening at the Knights of Columbus from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.

At 5 p.m., festivities begin around the downtown tree with live music featuring Ignition Brass while the Mayor’s Youth Advisory Council serves hot chocolate and cookies. The Real Grille Food Truck, provided by Real Services, will have snacks and other entrées available for purchase. All proceeds from the Real Grille Food Truck help support Real Service initiatives throughout the year.
