USGS: Magnitude 4.4 earthquake strikes eastern Tennessee, shakes south

DECATUR, Tenn. (AP) — U.S. Geological Survey: Magnitude 4.4 earthquake strikes eastern Tennessee, could be felt in Atlanta.

The 4.4 temblor struck around 4:14 a.m. Wednesday morning, with a 3.3 aftershock reported 13 minutes later. It hit an area 7 miles NNE of Decatur, Tennessee and is said to be the second-strongest earthquake ever to strike East Tennessee.

This is a developing story and there are no early reports of any damage in the region.
