18-year-old man shot and killed in Michigan City

An 18-year-old man in Michigan City was shot to death on Tuesday afternoon, Dec. 18, and a suspect is in custody.

Investigators say shots rang out just before 1 p.m. in the 200 block of Karwick Road, according to WNDU.

Once on scene, officers found the victim, Dareon Brown, who was pronounced dead at the hospital, WNDU reported.

So far, there is no word on the circumstances that led to the shooting.

Police apprehended a suspect at 9:45 p.m. on Tuesday night. He’s identified as Hakim Lamar Qualls, 16.
