Man killed in stabbing on Iowa Street in Mishawaka identified

A man died after being stabbed in Mishawaka. It happened around 11:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 19, in the 900 block of Iowa Street.

The Mishawaka Police Department received a report of an unwanted person with stab wounds. This occurred at a home in the 900 block of Iowa Street. Officers were sent to the area where they found the man, Ray Adkins, 46, suffering from stab wounds.

Adkins was taken to the hospital where he died.

The St. Joseph County Metro Homicide Unit is investigating the case and issued the following information:

Several witnesses have been interviewed at the County Metro Homicide Unit. All parties involved in the incident have been interviewed and are all believed to be associated and known to one another. No suspects are being sought by Metro Homicide at this time and no arrests have been made. The incident appears to be an isolated incident with no additional threat to the public. The investigation is active and on-going, and further information will be released when appropriate.

The identity of the deceased is being withheld until family notification can be made.

An autopsy has been scheduled for Friday morning, December 21st, in Fort Wayne. Once the examination is completed, results of the autopsy will be shared with the media.
