A Pierceton official is facing a drunk driving charge.

Clerk-Treasurer Jerry Kreger was pulled over after leaving the town’s Christmas party earlier this month.

A State Police officer says the 59-year-old’s vehicle was weaving and swerving before being pulled over.

Court documents say Kreger fell out of his truck as he was getting his driver’s license and the Trooper had to catch him from falling to the ground.

Kreger took a certified breath test and reportedly had a blood alcohol content of .191, over the legal limit of .08.

His initial hearing is set for January 7.

The Times-Union reports Kreger was selected the Republican Party clerk-treasurer nominee during the Pierceton town convention Aug. 17, 2015, after Janet Castle did not seek re-election in the May primary. He was unopposed in the general election that November.

Kreger served as council president for 13 of his 16 years on the town council.
