Data: Criminal activity decreased in South Bend in 2018

The numbers suggest 2018 saw a decrease in criminal activity in South Bend.

The data, which does not take December of 2018 into account, shows South Bend police responded to nearly 90,000 service calls, according to 95.3 MNC’s reporting partners at ABC 57.

That’s an average of 245 calls per day. 18 thousand of those calls resulted in cases, the bulk of those being thefts, burglaries and reports of aggravated assault.

The data also suggests the city saw fewer shootings, homicides, and burglaries but an increase in arson, aggravated assault, and motor vehicle thefts.
