Suspect in South Bend home invasion, attempted rape placed under arrest

A suspect in a home invasion and attempted rape which happened at a home in South Bend has been arrested.

Joshua Heath Black, 29, is facing charges of burglary of a dwelling, strangulation, attempted rape, and sexual battery, for the incident which happened on Wednesday, Jan. 2, at a home in the 500 block of S. 27th Street.

Black was arrested on Friday.

Black entered the victim’s home through an unlocked front door and woke the victim by assaulting her, according to investigators. The victim got Black’s gun away from him and pointed it at him. He then took off and she called police, according to 95.3 MNC’s reporting partners at ABC 57.

Black is scheduled to be in court on Monday, Jan. 7.
