Two suspects have been arrested in connection with the murder of a 23-year-old member of the U.S. military.

Tyrone Hassel III was shot and killed around 11 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 31, in the 2000 block of Colfax Avenue in St. Joseph Township.

Upon arrival on scene, officers found Hassel, who appeared to be gravely injured with multiple gunshot wounds.

Hassel was visiting family for the holidays in Berrien County.

Hassell was treated at the scene and taken to Spectrum Lakeland Hospital, where he died.

On Friday, Jan. 11, officers from St. Joseph Township Police received a tip that resulted in the arrests.

More information about the arrests and the suspects is expected to be released on Monday, Jan. 14.
