Three people charged in connection with shooting on Cushing Ave. in South Bend

The St. Joseph County Prosecutor’s Office has charged three people in connection with an investigation into a shooting that occurred on Monday, Jan. 14, in the 600 block of N. Cushing Avenue in South Bend.

Jeremiah Ware, 17, and Tyreik Williams, 16, were both charged with one count of Attempted Murder, a Level 1 Felony, and one count of Aggravated Battery, a Level 3 Felony. Symone Berry, 24, was charged with Assisting a Criminal, a Level 5 Felony.

Their initial bail hearing and arraignment were scheduled for Friday, Jan. 18, at 1 p.m.

The arrests took place early Wednesday, Jan. 16, and stemmed from a traffic stop. A woman who was shot at sustained a potentially life-threatening wound to her upper chest. A 19 year-old woman also suffered an ankle injury but, but not from a gunshot. The shooting took place during an argument.
