Notre Dame student in critical condition after stairway fall

University of Notre Dame officials say an 18-year-old freshman student was in critical condition after suffering a head injury in a fall at a residence hall.

The South Bend Tribune reports that Notre Dame officials say the student fell Sunday in an interior stairwell at Sorin Hall, a men’s residence hall on campus. The university didn’t identify the student.

Officials said in a news release that the Notre Dame Fire Department responded to a call 2 a.m. Sunday requesting medical attention. The student was taken to Memorial Hospital.

Notre Dame police are investigating how the student fell.
