A call about a person found lying on the ground near a home in the 15000 block of County Road 52 led to a death investigation.

The call came in to the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office just before 3 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 15.

Officers found the person to be deceased.

Sheriff Jeff Siegel requested the assistance of the Elkhart County Homicide Unit, given the unknown nature of the death.

Sheriff Siegel advises that there is no danger to the public and the scene is secure.

Siegel will allow time for the investigators to complete their preliminary investigation and may provide an update on Monday, Feb. 18.
