“Smiling” New Jersey woman jailed after pursuit on Indiana Toll Road

A New Jersey woman was arrested after leading Indiana State Troopers on a nearly 20 mile pursuit on the Indiana Toll Road.

The chase happened around 3:50 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 16, about two miles west of the Middlebury exit when a state police trooper saw a red Honda HR-V travelling at a high rate of speed.

The trooper activated his emergency lights to make a traffic stop, but he said the Honda sped up to speeds over 100 mile per hour.

A few miles into the pursuit, the trooper pulled next to the Honda to motion for the driver to pull over. The driver reportedly looked over at the trooper and smiled at him and continued the pursuit.

Several miles later the trooper, again pulled next to the driver and the driver smiled back.

Stop sticks were deployd near the 81 mile marker and the Honda’s tires were flattened.

The driver, identified as Temple Jordan, 36, of Berlin, NJ was taken to the Elkhart County Jail where she faces a preliminary charge of Resisting Law Enforcement, Level 6 Felony.

Jordan also received citations for her speed and driving on a suspended license.
