Alcohol or drugs appear to be a factor in a crash that injured a Grand Rapids woman.

The collision happened around 2:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 16, on M-40 north of Shavehead Lake Road in Newberg Township, according to the Cass County Sheriff’s Office.

Emergency crews arrived on scene and found that a southbound car crashed into a farm field after side-swiping a telephone pole. The 23-year-old driver was taken to Kalamazoo for her injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.
