Police: Woman crashes vehicle on U.S. 12 after falling asleep while driving

A 45-year-old woman from Arizona was injured in a crash after she apparently fell asleep at the wheel.

The collision happened just after 4 a.m. on Monday, April 29, at U.S. 12 near Starbrick Rd. in Mason Township.

The woman was traveling eastbound on U.S. 12 when she fell asleep, crossed the center line, then overturned.

She was treated for her injuries on scene by EMS personal and was taken to Elkhart General Hospital by ambulance for her injuries.
