Police: Alcohol may be factor in bicyclist/train crash in Warsaw

A bicyclist is injured after a collision with a train in Warsaw.

The crash happened around 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 30, and left some north-south railroad crossings closed for about an hour.

Witnesses say the train’s horn was blowing and signal lights were flashing when the 53-year-old man tried to cross the tracks before the train reached Winona Avenue.

He was taken to Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne for treatment.

Police believe alcohol may be a factor. Public intoxication charges are pending.
