Residents displaced after massive fire at Main Street Apartments in Granger

More than a dozen apartments in a complex at Main Street Village Apartments on Douglas Road east of Main Street in Granger were destroyed in a fire.

The blaze broke out shortly before 3 p.m. on Monday, May 6.

It took crews from multiple departments more than an hour to put the flames out as the blaze, which began in the center of the complex, spread toward each end of the buidling.

Thick smoke rising from the fire was seen for miles. Three dogs are rescued.

One firefighter was taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation, and later released.

The Red Cross is helping the tennants displaced.

Crews were back on scene at the complex on Tuesday morning to douse flames again, when the fire rekindled.

So far, there is no word on the cause of the fire.
