INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — A young girl who died after being left in an SUV on a hot day has been identified.

The Marion County Coroner’s Office identified her Monday as 1-year-old Maria Guadalupe Sanchez.

The office says the cause of death will be pending for about eight weeks

Police say officers and medics who were called to an auto parts store Saturday on the city’s east side found the girl unresponsive inside the SUV . She was pronounced dead at Riley Children’s Hospital.

The Indianapolis Star reported the girl was believed to be with her mother while another person went inside the store, but police would not say where the mother was when the call for help was placed or who made that call.
