Man shoots dog after animal bites hit child

A South Bend man shot a dog after it bit his child. It happened early Sunday night, May 19, in the 400 block of Gladstone Street in South Bend.

South Bend Police arrived to find a 6-year-old boy with a cut to his head.

The dad told officers he thought the dog was going for the boy’s neck, according to 95.3 MNC’s reporting partners at ABC 57.

The animal was shot in the paw.

The boy was taken to the hospital.

The dog was taken to the emergency vet.
