Burket home destroyed in Saturday night fire

(Gary Nieter / Times-Union)

A Burket home is a total loss after a house fire.

At 8:37 p.m. on Saturday, June 1, Burket Fire Department responded to a home fire in the 4100 block of West CR 900 South. Silver Lake Fire Department was called for an assist.

Burket Fire Chief Kevin McSherry said it took more than an hour to put the blaze out, and the high winds contributed to the home’s extensive damage.

“The master bedroom was a point of origin of the fire,” he said.

The cause of the fire is undetermined at this time.

The home is owned by Worth Packer and was being rented to Joseph Rhoades.

“It is not able to be lived in,” McSherry said.
