Syracuse man faces rape charge following March incident at hotel

A Syracuse man is facing a rape charge that results from an incident in March.

49-year-old Daryle Lee Smith was arrested Thursday.

Warsaw Police responded to Kosciusko Community Hospital on March 30 in regards to a victim saying she had been friends with Smith. She had left a gathering with him, where he drove to the Deluxe Inn and she laid down on the bed.

The victim then stated Smith laid down on her and started taking off her clothes. She pushed him away and said no several times.

The report says an Indiana State Police Detective talked to Smith, who admitted to having sex with the victim after she said stop once or twice.

A warrant was issued for Smith’s arrest on April 11. He is now being held on $20,250 bond at Kosciusko County Jail.
