(Jon ZImney/95.3 MNC)

A South Bend woman died in a crash Friday afternoon in St. Joseph County.

Police say 82 year-old Carolyn Woodyard was on State Road 23 east of Gumwood when she attempted to make a left turn at the Martin’s property around 5 p.m.

Police believe she pulled in front of a one-ton dump truck with a trailer. She was pronounced dead a short time later at the hospital. The dump truck driver and two passengers were uninjured.

The St. Joseph County FACT (Fatal Crash Team) was activated, per protocol, to handle the investigation, which remains active and on-going.
