LaPorte police stepping up traffic efforts in coming weeks

LaPorte police are conducting extra patrols to target aggressive drivers this week.

It’s a preemptive effort during the weeks of 4th of July celebrations. Officers will have extra patrols from June 21st through July 14th during the holiday celebrations and for the LaPorte County Fair. It’s part of Operation Pull Over, a safety grant program funded by the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration.

The objective is to reduce traffic crash injuries and fatalities through promoting seat belt use, and trying to put a stop to impaired or dangerous driving.
