Benton Harbor introduces a new app to help fight crime

Benton Harbor’s Department of Public Safety has introduced a new tool to help fight crime.

The city’s DPS says an innovative new phone app will help residents better connect with the department. It will allow them to share information, see alert messages, and even submit tips anonymously to help fight crime in their neighborhoods.

The app is called Benton Harbor DPS and is completely anonymous, with technology designed to remove all identifying information before the information is seen by authorities. Public Safety reminds people, however, that the app is NOT a substitute for dialing 9-1-1.
