South Bend FOP: Buttigieg comments “divisive” in wake of officer-involved shooting

The South Bend Fraternal Order of Police is taking Mayor Pete Buttigieg to task over comments he’s made regarding police work, in the wake of the officer-involved shooting death of Eric Logan.

At issue with the FOP is Buttigieig’s recent comment that “all police work and all of American life takes place in the shadow of racism.”

The FOP released a statement, calling that comment divisive.

The also say Buttigieg’s comments and actions are driving a wedge between law enforcement officers and the community they took an oath serve and that he has, in no way, unified the community.

The FOP also confirmed their support of Sgt. Ryan O’Neill, who fired his gun at O’Neill who was allegedly armed with a knife at the time.
