The South Bend F.O.P. Lodge has called on Mayor Pete Buttigieg to recuse himself from all decisions in the June 16 police shooting case.

In a statement Monday afternoon they pointed out that the mayor is using what it calls “the justified shooting of a felon armed with an 8-inch hunting knife as a political issue” in the Democratic primary elections.

South Bend F.O.P. President Harvey Mills said “Mayor Buttigieg has repeatedly shown that he’s more concerned about boosting his own presidential political campaign than ensuring a fair investigation about an incident where a veteran police officer was forced to defend himself when a dangerous felon attacked him with an eight-inch hunting knife.”

Just wondering why they want the Mayor to recuse himself from this? That would be a nice touch of reporting for such a hot topic in South Bend. Politics with democrats goes on with everything they do.
Usually, when recusal is needed it’s for personal involvement or the like, and not just because he’s a politician.
There must be a better reason to recuse himself.

Mayor Pete is not “using…the justified shooting of a felon armed with an 8-inch hunting knife as a political issue”. He gets asked about it everywhere he goes, and he responds with his usual forthrightness and transparency. What else should he do? Refuse to answer the questions?
And events may have happened just as the FOP described, but so far nothing has been proven. They are simply accepting his version of events, and publishing them as fact.
