Silver Beach fireworks moved to Wednesday

Due to concerns about safety on the beaches, the Silver Beach fireworks in St. Joseph have been pushed up a day. That’s a break in a more than 25-year tradition.

The fireworks are instead scheduled for tonight, the same time as the displays scheduled in Baroda and South Haven. It’s hoped that the change will make it more of a family-oriented event.

Some local businesses, however, are concerned that the competing displays in other communities will cut down on the amount of foot traffic they would usually see that day and night.
