A 1 year-old girl died in St. Joseph County Michigan on the 4th of July.

Police in Three Rivers say the child and a 2 year-old sneaked out of their house and were discovered a few minutes later in the family’s pool.

A parent performed CPR on the child and she was taken to a hospital, where she later died. The 2 year-old was not injured.

The children were able to go around safety measures in the home.

The Michigan State Police are investigating the drowning with the Medical Examiner and Child Protective Services.
