Indiana State Police responded to a 911 call of a crash at mile marker 3 on eastbound I-80.

The collision happened in the early morning hours of Saturday, July 13.

The preliminary investigation indicates that a 2001 Toyota Sienna minivan, driven by Kylie Justice, 22, of Gary, swerved and struck the concrete barrier wall in Hammond.

Judging by tire marks and other evidence from the scene, it is believed that after striking the wall, the vehicle traveled back into the roadway and across all 5 lanes before hitting the outer barrier wall and coming to a rest.  The vehicle sustained heavy front end damage.

Justice was found in the driver’s seat of the minivan, unresponsive, with a laceration to her head.

She was transported to Northlake Methodist Hospital in Gary.

Justice was wearing her seatbelt at the time of the crash.

Alcohol is believed to be a factor in this crash.

The vehicle involved in the crash had an expired registration.
