Safety grant applications underway for Indiana schools

The Indiana Department of Homeland Security is accepting applications for school safety grants.

Public schools, accredited non-public schools, charter schools and education coalitions are eligible to apply for matching grants of up to $100,000 through August 2.

Indiana lawmakers appropriated about $19 million to the program last session. The funds are earmarked for safety initiatives in schools across the state.

More than $53 million has been delivered in matching grants since the program was signed into law in 2013.
