Michigan seat belt use continues to rise

Seat belt use in the state of Michigan has risen to 94.4%.

According numbers from Michigan State University, the rate of seat belt use in the state has risen a full percentage point from 2018 estimates.

The Michigan Office of Highway Safety Planning says traffic safety programs such as Click It Or Ticket are designed to reduce traffic deaths and lessen the impact of injuries.

They say while the numbers are headed in the right direction, there is still plenty of work to be done to reach the goal of zero deaths on Michigan roadways.

The state’s all-time-high for belt use is 97.9%, in 2009.
