Father, teenage son injured after motorcycle hits fallen tree

A father and his teenage son are recovering after the motorcycle they were riding on hit a fallen tree.
The collision happened around 4 a.m. on Saturday, July 20, in the 17000 Block of Marcellus Highway in Volina Township, according to the Cass County Sheriff’s Office.
The 54-year-old Marcellus man and his 16-year-old son were traveling west near Lawrence Road when they struck a large tree that had fallen across the roadway.
The two victims were transported to Bronson Hospital in Kalamazoo for their injuries.
Alcohol does not appear to be factor in the crash but helmets were not used, the sheriff’s department stated.
