Woman accused of burning 8-month-old boy with lighter

A 22-year-old woman is accused of burning an eight-month-old boy with a lighter.

It happened back in May.

Adara Nicol was staying at a home on Lawrence Street in South Bend, Three children also lived in the home, including the baby. Two adults in the home noticed the baby had burn marks on her arms and her back that appeared to be from a lighter.

The two discussed the marks and accused Nicol of harming the child, according to court documents, as reported by 95.3 MNC’s news partners at ABC 57.

A day later, Nicol came to the home with her boyfriend and a fight ensued.

Nicol was arrested and taken to the St. Joseph County Jail on a charge of battery on a person less than 14-years-old.

Nicol was placed on pretrial supervision on Monday, Aug. 29, and she is due back in court early next month.
