Woman, 47, in critical condition after being struck by car in South Bend

A woman from Whiting, Indiana, is hospitalized in critical condition after being struck by a car.

The collision happened around 11 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 5 at the intersection of Main Street and Garst Street.

A 52 year old man was driving a Chevy Impala southbound on Main Street when the 47-year-old woman ran across the street and was struck by the vehicle.

The St. Joseph County Fatal Crash Team was called to handle the
investigation.

The woman suffered a head injury and was taken to the hospital.

The driver of the Impala remained at the scene and cooperated with police.
