New Ivy Tech chancellor for South Bend-Elkhart making move from Notre Dame

Ivy Tech has named a new chancellor for their South Bend-Elkhart campus, and it’s someone who knows the community pretty well.

Notre Dame executive David Balkin was named to the role, and starts work on September 3. He replaces Thomas Coley, who retired in May.

Balkin served as the Associate Director of Regional Development for San Francisco and Silicon Valley at Notre Dame, joining the school in 2014.

He brings more than 30 years of experience in management and engineering to his new role at Ivy Tech, as well as a PhD.
