Northern lights might be visible in Michiana this weekend

This weekend, depending on the conditions, Michiana might have a chance to catch a glimpse of the northern lights.

NOAA’s Space Weather Prediction Center is calling for a G1 Geomagnetic Storm Watch due to enhanced solar winds. That means parts of the northern US that are usually too far south to see the aurora — including South Bend and even Indianapolis — will have a better chance to see the lights.

The maximum coverage area is expected Saturday or Sunday night.
