Farmers across The Hoosier State are preparing for the harvest season, which now includes hemp.

With September comes Indiana’s first hemp harvest since the crop was legalized earlier this year. State Representative Don Lehe (R, Brookston), who chairs the House Committee on Agriculture and Rural Development, says hemp can be used to develop a wide range of materials. That includes textiles and industrial materials.

Experts say the hemp harvest this year will likely run through October.
