Claypool man dies in Wabash County crash Thursday

A Claypool man has died following a crash in Wabash County Thursday.

Just after 1:30 p.m., officers with the Indiana State Police and North Manchester Police Department were called to a two-car crash on County Road 1050 North, east of State Road 15.

A preliminary investigation reveals Zachary Smith, 29, was driving a Harley Davidson motorcycle eastbound on CR 1050 North when for an unknown reason, he crossed the center line and entered the westbound lane.

Smith went into the path of a westbound Ford Ranger. The driver of the Ranger attempted to avoid the motorcycle but was unsuccessful.

Smith was ejected from the motorcycle and died at the scene.

The driver of the Ranger was uninjured.
