South Bend homeowner finds man asleep in spare bedroom, calls police

A man has been arrested after he was found sleeping in the spare bedroom of a South Bend home Saturday morning.

Police were called to the home in the 1200 block of Diamond Avenue on reports of an “unwanted subject in a home,” according to ABC 57.

The homeowner told police that he locked up his home Friday night before going to bed at 10 p.m., but the next morning, he found the door to the spare bedroom wide open. Inside the room, he found a man sleeping in the bed.

Officers found the man, identified as Scott Weldon, still asleep in the spare bedroom. Weldon was woken up and asked how he got into the home, to which he replied that he entered through the back door, and thought the house was vacant.

Weldon was arrested on an outstanding warrant and charged with one count of Residential Entry.
