Rodeway Inn Murder Suspect Arrested in Detroit

The man accused in the Rodeway Inn murder is now behind bars. 45 year old Jamie Garner was arrested in Detroit on Wednesday afternoon.

He is being charged with murder, with a firearm sentencing enhancement, in the incident that happened at the Rodeway in St. Joseph County two weekends ago. 22 year old Jenna Vanhorn was found dead inside of one of the motel rooms after witnesses reported a man naked in the parking lot firing a gun.

Garner was found at the home of a relative and has not been extradited back to St. Joseph County yet.

St. Joseph County– The St. Joseph County Prosecutor’s Office has charged Jamie
Nathaniel Garner, 45, with Murder and a Firearm Sentencing Enhancement in the
September 15, 2019, shooting death of 22 year old Jenna Lynn Vanhorn (Rodeway Inn,
50000 block of Indiana 933, South Bend).

Probable cause was found and an arrest warrant ordered issued. Defendant was ordered
held without bond.

Jamie Garner was arrested early yesterday afternoon, September 25th, on the arrest warrant in this cause number by a United States Marshals Task Force in Detroit, Michigan, at the home of a relative. He is currently being held in the Wayne County Jail.

We will notify the media when he has returned to St. Joseph County on these charges.

The sentencing range for Murder is 45 to 65 years. A Firearm Sentencing Enhancement
can add an additional five to twenty years to the conviction of the underlying offense.

Please be advised that the charges filed against this defendant are merely accusations and
that he is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty
