Police report “suspicious package” found in Mishawaka actually GPS device

Turns out a “suspicious package” reported in Mishawaka Wednesday morning was actually just a GPS tracking device.

Police were called to the 500 block of Comfort Place around 8:30 a.m. on reports of a suspicious package placed underneath a parked vehicle.

Officers evacuated the area and called in the Elkhart City Bomb Unit to assist.

ABC 57 reports the object was examined, and determined to be a GPS tracking device.

No word on who placed the device there and why.

Police are asking anyone with information in the case to call the Detective Bureau at (574) 258-1684.
