Three people hurt in alcohol-fueled rear end crash in Cass County

Three people were hurt in a rear-end collision in Pokagon Township.

The crash happened around 8:45 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 4, on M-51 near Saddlebred Lane.

A 17-year-old Dowagiac boy and his 18-year-old passenger were south bound on M-51 preparing to turn left into a driveway when they were rear-ended by a 41-year-old Dowagiac man, according to the Cass County Sheriff’s Office.

Family members took the the two teenagers to Borgess Lee Hospital in Dowagiac for their injuries.

The driver who police say caused the crash was transported by ambulance to Borgess Lee Hospital.

Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash, according to the sheriff’s office.
