Three males detained, narcotics, weapons confiscated after shooting near Benton Harbor High School

Police are investigating after receiving reports of shots fired near Benton Harbor High School.

Police were called to the area around 1:35 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 8, and found evidence of a shootout that occurred on Empire and in the alley between Empire and LaVette in the 800 Block.

During the course of the investigation, officers served a search warrant at a home that one  of the suspects was believed to have gone into. Inside, police found two firearms and a significant amount of illegal suspected narcotics.

Benton Harbor High School went into their lockdown as per protocol, even though the incident did not happen at the school nor did it involve any current BHHS students.

A Burgundy Cadillac sedan was seen in the area at the time shots were fired. Investigators are seeking the vehicle and driver as they may have been involved.
