Driver sentenced to 14 years for fatal January crash

A man has been sentenced to 14 years in prison for his role in a fatal crash that happened back in January.

Alan Tarchala, 34, pleaded guilty to four felony counts in August, which include two counts of Causing Serious Bodily Injury While Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated with a Sched. I or II Substance in the Body; Possession of Methamphetamine; and Causing Death When Operating a Motor Vehicle with a Sched. I or II Controlled Substance in the Blood.

The crash happened on January 26 in the area of Bremen Highway and Petro Drive.

Tarchala lost control of his Jeep and struck a vehicle head-on, killing its passenger, Sherry Amiel.
