Elkhart man killed after crashing in pond in Cass County

An Elkhart man was killed after crash into a pond in Cass County.

The collision happened around 3:45 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 8 on Bellows Road near Idlewild Street in Porter Township, according to the Cass County Sheriff’s Office.

Chase Miller, 28, was traveling northbound on Bellows Road when his vehicle left the roadway and went into a pond, the sheriff’s office stated.

Miller was pulled from the pond and CPR was started, but after 30 minutes, medics were not able to revive him.

Miller was pronounced dead at the scene.

It is believed he was not wearing his seat belt, the sheriff’s office reported.

Factors into the crash remain under investigation.
