South Bend Police Nuisance Abatement Vehicle damaged by fire

The South Bend Police Department Nuisance Abatement Vehicle, known as the Armadillo, was damaged by fire on Sunday, Nov. 17.

The vehicle was placed in the area of Elwood and Brookfield in South Bend where numerous instances of shots fired have occurred.

Midnight officers responded to the scene and found the front of the vehicle engulfed in flames, according to South Bend Police.

South Bend Fire crews extinguished the flames.

At this time the cause is undetermined.

The Armadillo is equipped with a recording system that will be reviewed.
