As many as eight people are now without homes after an apartment fire in South Bend. The blaze began just before midnight in a building that houses a furniture store and upstairs apartments. The blaze then spread to a restaurant next store.

South Bend Batallion Chief Chris Baker tells ABC 57 News one person suffered smoke inhalation, but will be fine.

Crews are expected to be on scene for most of the morning dousing hot spots. So far, no word on the cause.
