Goshen woman, 35, killed in crash on U.S. 31 Bypass in Niles Township

A Goshen woman was killed on the U.S. 31 Bypass in Niles Township after police say she crossed the median and struck another vehicle.

The collision happened just before 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 9 when police say the 35-year-old woman was traveling northbound and crossed over to oncoming traffic near mile marker 6, according to the Berrien County Sheriff’s Department.

The woman struck a vehicle driven by a 17-year-old boy from Niles. He and his 16-year-old female passenger were taken to Memorial Hospital in South Bend with non-life-threatening injuries.

The Niles woman was also taken to Memorial Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

It was not immediately known whether drugs of alcohol were factors.

The crash remains under investigation by the Berrien County Accident Investigation Team.
