Steeper residential parking fines expected to hit South Bend

(Jon Zimney/95.3 MNC)

The City of South Bend are looking to increase fines for parking in residential zones without a permit.

The South Bend Tribune reports that steeper fines could be on the way after the Common Council approved a resolution to increase the fines from $10 to $50 by a unanimous vote.

The city currently has 33 residential zones, most of them near the campuses of Notre Dame and IUSB, and Memorial Hospital.

Mayor Mueller is expected to sign the bill into law.
